One for Him and One for Her

 Hello Friends!

I have a couple of quick cards to share today.  This first one a little feminine. I stamped Rubbernecker Stamps ~ Thinking of You  with Memento Tuxedo Black and colored it with Prisma Pencils.  I die cut it with a Spellbinders Labels 4 and sponged Memento Angel Pink while it was still in the die.  I added some Polka dot Trendy Tape over some Pink Sheer ribbon from the Dollar Store and some rhinestones to the corners.  The Bling over the bow is actually shoe clip off of a fancy schmancy pair of shoes from years gone by.  I just don't throw anything out !!  I added some Stardust Stickles to the flower center and around the labels 4.

I am entering this in Forever Friends ~Glitter and Sparkle Challenge

This next card is a super simple masculine card!

I stamped the truck from Kittie Kits ~ Fall Harvest Scene #9 with Versafine Onyx Black and clear embossed it.  I die cut it with a Spellbinders oval, and added just a hint of color with Memento Toffee Crunch and a blender pen.  Then some score lines were added every 1/8 of an inch and Memento Toffee Crunch was sponged around the outside.  The sentiment is from  Rubbernecker Stamps ~ Best Wishes Set and done the same way as the image.  I popped it up over a Spellbinders Labels 8 that has been scored every 1/4" and wrapped with Linen Thread.  The patterned paper is Graphic 45's Olde Curiosity Shoppe. The edges were sponged with Toffee Crunch and wrapped with Linen Thread as well.

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous weekend!

Katiebug turns 16

This is not a usual post for me.

This card  and post is for my sweet Katie who is having a 16th birthday today. Really it is birthday week!!   Yes, Katie you can consider this post as your scrapbook page.

When she was little we all called her Katie bug and boy oh boy, did she love ladybugs.  When I saw this image by Impression Obsession, called Phoebe -CS371, it really reminded me of her.

I colored her with Copics  and die cut her out with a Spellbinders circle and popped her up on a scalloped circle. I didn't have any strips of rhinestones, so I tediously glued dollars store rhinestones down around the circle.

I like my glitter to be fine.  I usually use Elizabeth Craft Jewel Glitter Ritz for my projects but Rangers Stickles Dry Fine Diamond Glitter looked fine enough to try and came in a much larger container and was easier on the pocketbook. I thought I would try my own product comparison, so I added Rangers Stickles Dry Fine Diamond Glitter to the dots on her wings and the dots trailing behind her.  I am very fussy about my glitter so I was surprised and pleased to find I actually liked the Ranger's Stickles Dry Glitter better!  Both companies have great glitter products, but Ranger's is more bang for your buck and excellent quality! Penny saved...penny earned!!

Even though I am drowning in patterned paper, I didn't have any paper that would work for what I pictured in my head. So I punched some 1" circles out of black scrap paper and adhered them to some white card stock. I took a couple of red copics and colored the white card stock.   The Ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon and a black Rhinestone brad was added to the center of the bow ( a gift from my evah so sweet friend Anne Ryan). I added a green panel that has been embossed with the Birds and swirls die to the card base.

A hand made card is really worth the time and energy!!

One of the few birthday's celebrated without her lifetime BFF Sinead.  Katie was three and Sinead was four in this picture. I have no idea where this photo was taken.

Sinead sent her 16 gorgeous red roses and a box of chocolates which my Dad and I promptly devoured trying to find the cherry chocolate..(sorry Sinead!~LOL).

A weekend filled with bowling, chinese take out and an all night giggle fest with her girlfriends!!!

Sneaking up on Katie as she shovels the sidewalks and surprising her with her birthday present.....

Supper and an evening with my Mom and Dad, her boyfriend Colby (who is a mother's dream boyfriend for a daughter), and and Auntie Stephanie not in photo) and of course me.

Happy birthday my sweet, smart, beautiful girl!!
Tomorrow we are off to Edmonton to the Sir Paul McCartney concert. So it will be another day before I am back with some Rubbernecker projects to share with you and to catch up on what everyone else has been up to.

Have a fabulous day!!

One Hydrangea ~ Two Ways..Prismas and Copics

  Hello Friends,

Today I have two clean and simple cards to share using one of my all time favorite stamps.... Impression Obsession's  Dried Hydrangea L6001.  I colored this one with Prisma Colored Pencils and Gamsol and added some rhinestones to the center of the blossoms.  Using a Black Soot Distress marker I colored directly on Impression Obsession' s Precious Treasure B13027 only the word friendship.  I love these new IO Flag Dies -DIE015-F !  They layer up so nicely !! I did some sponging with  Antique Linen Distress Ink and Memento Bamboo Leaves on the card stock and some Memento Rose Bud on the ribbon.  A very simple card!

I inked up the Hydrangea with Antique Linen and stamped off once on scrap paper before stamping the inside of the card. Nice and lightly inked so whatever I write in the card will still be easily read.

I am entering this in the Forever Friends ~ Anything Goes  challenge.

Here is the second card.....

I do love how differently one image can look just with the medium of choice and colors!  This is the same Hydrangea colored with Copics.  This is a blatant case of a card I made last year, but I needed a 90th birthday card in a hurry and seem to have very little time. I added some pearls, Sizzix Die Cut numbers and a tiny baby blue gingham bow.  The Cuttlebug Corners have been cut down to fit my card.  This is such a fun stamp to color!

I am entering this card in the....
Craft Us Crazy ~ Favorite Color and/or Holiday Theme  challenge. My favorite color is blue (this month~LOL).

I am entering both of these cards in Scrapbooker's Paradise - Case yourself.

Thanks for stopping by and have a most marvelous day!

I Love You Because.....How to Make a Grown Man Cry

This project is so easy to make that a 3 year old made this! My baby brother turns 42 today. Oh, do I feel old!  I got the idea for this on Pinterest.

I gave my 3 year old niece Stella an old frame and she painted it with Rangers Distress Broken China Crackle Paint and I sprayed it with Krylon Matte Sealer.  Since she loves painting so much, when I wasn't looking she painted a few spots with the crackle paint again....we learned that it doesn't crackle when applied over the sealer~who knew.  we just left it that way because this is her project. She painted the cardboard in the back of the frame with chalkboard paint.  She ran some scrap paper through the Vagabond with some Sizzix letter die cuts and punched a heart from Shimmery red card stock.  She put all the glue on the backs of the letters and I helped her position them before she stuck them to the chalkboard. The heart was popped up with a pop dot.  We play school every day and she has been working very hard practising her printing.  I think she did a great job printing why she loves her Dad!
She was pretty proud and excited to give this to her Daddy!

I think he loved it because my brother had tears a big as horse turds running down his face!
I thought this was a cool project because you could erase it and write something different each day but my brother is really sentimental (hmmm wonder where he gets that from~LOL) and asked if I could spray it so it would stay like that forever.

I am entering this in the Allsorts Challenge ~ It's a gift
On another note I want to thank my sweet friend Sonia from Passioni di carta for the wonderful surprise I found in the mail!!  Your heart is a big as the ocean!  I am so spoiled!!! I love her cards and the way she uses feathers!!  There was a gorgeous pair of earrings as well that are not in the photo but I was wearing them. So many fabulous things in one package!! Thank you!!!

Thanks for stopping by and have a fabulous weekend!

Rock-A-Bye Baby

Hello Friends!

It just doesn't get any simpler or quicker to make a card when you have fabulous paper like Graphic 45's Little Darlings paper pad! I needed a baby card on the fly and no time to color up an image so I just utilized the paper.  I did some light sponging on the edges of the paper with Adirondack Salmon  and Sandal.  I added some antique lace and a tiny seam binding bow.  I colored some white pearls with a Copic E21 marker to match the card and popped the image up.  I love the vintage images and the quality paper that Graphic 45 puts out!

The Same~Only Different

Hello Friends,

Yesterday, I had done up 2 of these cute little images from The Little Paper Shop. This is the last card with this image for a while since I have so many neglected stamps crying to be inked.  I have a lot of birthday cards to catch up on.   This sweet Angel was colored up with Copics and stamped 4 times and cut the same way as yesterday,   I added rhinestones to the Spellbinders Scalloped Oval and all the Lavender paper was sponged with Memento Lulu Lavender and sprayed with homemade Shimmer Mist.  Added some lavender roses using the MFT Mini Rolled Roses die, a couple of  MFT Leafy flourish die cuts, more Stardust Stickles, White Satin Ribbon and a pin.  Some of the corners were rounded with the Corner Chomper (I loove this tool). My card base is Spellbinders Romantic Rectangles.

Three Wishes

Hello Friends!

I have been trying to clean up my craft room and what a mess it is!!  As I was cleaning up I came  across this cute little image From The Little Paper Shop called Angel, however she is a fairy in my mind because angels don't carry wands!  Duh! Everybody knows only fairies, good witches and Harry Potter can carry a wand!  I stamped her a few times so I could give her a double layer of wings and pop her legs up for more dimension.  She was colored up with Copics and perched on a cotton ball that I stretched out and adhered to a Spellbinder's Oval that has been sponged with Tumbled Glass Distress Ink.  I added some micro fine glitter for some extra sparkle, Stardust Stickles to her wings and some Gold Gelly Roll pen to her wand. The sentiment is from the Kraftin' Kimmie - Three Wishes Set.

I kept the layout simple with some Dots embossing that I lightly sponged with Memento Angel Pink.  I just could not wait to play with my new MFT Dienamics Beautiful Bows die!  I absolutely love it!  I sponged the edges with Memento Rose Bud and added some rhinestones.

A Gift Of Coffee Shaker Card

Hello Friends!

I really should be working on Christmas cards since between my husband and I we usually send out around 250 cards and I have a whopping 6 cards made. EEK!!   I seemed to have jumped right over Christmas to Valentines Day.  Every year for Valentines day, I do gift card holders for the university kids and add a Tim Hortons gift card (a popular Canadian Coffee Shop).  I found this fabulous Impression Obsession - Latte Love D8679 stamp in my mailbox and was so inspired by it that I couldn't wait to ink it up.  It screamed to be turned into a shaker card!!
This weeks Impression Obsession Challenge is...A GIFT FOR YOU, so this was perfect for it!

I used the sketch from Paper Players 119 Sketch Challenge.....

This stamp actually has steam and a heart rising from the coffee but I cut the heart off and used it for the label.  I pleated some 1/4" grosgrain ribbon around the shaker pouch.  I added real coffee beans inside the shaker.  This was a great smelling card to make!

I love how thin these shakers are! It makes it so much easier for mailing!  I used glue dots to pleat my ribbon.  I have a tutorial in THIS POST  for pleating ribbon.

This is the inside. I just adhere a small panel , adhering on just the 3 sides so I can slip a gift card in. I slid my driver's license in just to show how it fits in. I have to go and buy some gift cards!

Santa's Clean!

Here is a clean and simple Christmas card using  Impression Obsession's Santa - D4190 and  Impression Obsession's Believe - B3504.  This Santa is a quick stamp to color. Perfect since I am so far behind in my Christmas cards.

I used sketch #3  from CAS(E) This Sketch....
I die cut a partial circle using a Spellbinders Circle out of scrap designer paper.  Embossed the sentiment using Versamark and Silver Embossing Powder. Added a border cut from Impression Obsession's Border Duo #1 DIE017-V. Added some stardust stickles from Rangers to the snowflakes and Santa's hat.  Cut Santa out and popped him up in the center  and called it done.  It just doesn't get any simpler and it requires no extra postage!

Full Moon

 Hello friends,

Today's card is for a friend that could really use a giggle.  We always had fun together on Halloween taking our kids tricker treating when they were little and had a tons of laughs doing it, so I always think of her at Halloween.

I colored this sassy witch that I purchased from Stamp it Crazy  up with Copics and cut her out.  I stamped, colored and cut out just the the bum and panties a second time and popped it up over a Spell binders circle that has been sponged with Memento Tangelo.  The broom, spiders and webs are from a Graphic 45 - Hampton Art set.  The broom was colored up quickly with Distress markers and cut out.  The fabulous orange ribbon is from May Arts and the black satin ribbon is from Really Reasonable Ribbon Club. I added a ZVA Creative black rhinestone flourish that I cut up to fit my card. To finish it off I added Black Diamond Stickles to the spider bodies.
She is just to sassy! Her cheeks are a little rosy because She can feel the frosty autumn breeze. I freeze my butt off on Halloween  every year. Most years there is snow on the ground here.

The Haunted Hill with a Creepy Fun Treat

Hello Friends,

Tis' the season for spooky, my second favorite holiday!

I am getting so addicted to dies.  You can create a quick card and that seems to fit my schedule these days!  I started with Graphic 45 patterned paper and sponged Distress Inks-Spiced Marmalade, Peeled Paint and Dusty Concord.  The fabulous spooky die is Impression Obsession's Haunted Hill-DIE029-P.  I adhered some scrap orange card stock behind the pumpkin and the house and added some Black and white twine that I sponged Peeled Paint ink overI popped it up  on the patterned paper. It doesn't show up in the photo but I added some Black Diamond Stickles to the spiders and the Bats.  The sentiment is Impression Obsession's Happy Halloween- B5460.

This is what the trick or treaters are getting on Halloween Night. My friend Dodie and I spent a whole day last week filling gloves with treats. I saw a glove similar to this on pinterest and figured it would save me a lot of time this year. I added a tag that has been sponged with the same inks as the card and spritzed with water.  I added just a portion of the Haunted Hill Die. So I could get a few tags out of one die cut. I attached it with some ribbon.

How to do a Night Time Inspired Distress Ink Background

Hello Blogland Friends!

I am finally getting motivated to get going on my Christmas cards.

I wanted a background to showcase this gorgeous snowflake die cut. I was sitting on my deck a couple of nights ago looking at the sky, wondering how I could recreate it. This is how I did the background.......

1~ Sponge Rangers Faded Jeans Distress inks on white card stock and spritzing it with water. Heat set it with my embossing gun.

2~ Then I rubbed the ink pad directly on my craft sheet and misted water onto the ink.  I layed the card stock onto the misted ink on the craft sheet and heat set it.

The nice thing about this way of doing your background is if you don't like the way it looks you can repeat steps one and two until you are happy with it.

I die cut Impression Obsession's Snowflake Die-DIE024 with Silver Mirror Paper.  When I use intricate die cuts I always put a piece of wax paper in between the die and the card stock.  This makes it easier to remove the card stock.

I adhered the snowflake with a mini glue pen and added some bling. I see I missed one.

I embossed Impression Obsession's Merry Christmas-B4609 with Silver Embossing powder and added some bling to the holly.  I popped it up with pop dots over a Cuttlebug Snowflake Embossing folder. I don't know what the name of it is, my sweet friend Judy aka jadekay ran a bunch off for me on one of our visits. The metal and bling ribbon I bought at Joanne's in Seattle.

Lining Up Negative Punches and Dies Tutorial

Hello Friends!

I have a one layer card to share today using Rubbernecker's Butterfly Inchies 15517 and Rubbernecker's Discover Word Set

I used the negative of a 1" circle  to create the circles on my card.  This is what I do to line up the circles up exactly where I want them to be....... punch 5 circles out of a post it note close to the edge, being sure to have the sticky part on the circles.  Stick them on the card stock where you want them, this is the only way I could ever sponge a straight line and have them spaced evenly!

Next take a scrap piece of card stock and punch the same size circle out of it. I had a scrap that had a couple of circles punched out , but you only need one circle punched out.  Line it up over the post it note circle and remove the post it note through the open hole.

Sponge your ink over the hole. Ranger's Antique Linen Distress ink used here.

Your negative dies are exactly where you wanted them...

I stamped the butterflies and sentiment with Memento Tuxedo Black, added some scoring and 1/8" Black Taffeta ribbon.

I am entering this card into the following challenges...
