A Father's Love 12 X 12 Scrapbook Page

 

This is going to be a short post as I am trying to get ready to drive to Vancouver, B.C. to load up my brother and his family.  I am so excited that they will moving to Lacombe!!  Life is just better with little kids around!  Of course the big kids too!

Here is a very quick and easy Rubbernecker Stamps scrapbook page.  I used more photos taken by Dirk Brouwer Photography of some of my favorite people.

I stamped Grunge Background #3 sku:618 with Gathered Twigs Distress Ink on the 12 x 12 turquoise base I stamped DAD with Book Antique Alphabet Set #1 sku:612 using Gathered Twigs on cream card stock and embossed them with clear embossing powder. I punched them out with the Curly Label Punch, sponged the edges with the same ink and layered them on turquoise 1-3/4" circles and sponged them with Memento Teal Zeal.  I layered the letters on a Spellbinders Nested Pennants and added and punched cream border and some Really Reasonable Ribbon Caribbean twine. Punched a heart out of Shimmery red card stock, added some twine and popped it up.

 I also sponged the edges of the 12 X12 paper with Teal Zeal. I stamped the Journal Bracket Heart Sku:603-03 several times on cream card stock with Teal Zeal, sponged the edges with Gathered Twig after punching a scalloped edge.  The little hearts were colored with a Memento Love Letter marker.   The sweet little sentiment in the corner is from the Discover Word Set sku:627-13.  I added some Ice White Viva Pearl Pen to finish it off.

Altered Cake Plate & Scrapbook Page

I was out shopping with my Sorority Sister Diane and found this awesome square cake plate at Winners.  It screamed at me in the store to buy it,  really it did!!  I could see it altered in my head as a scrapbook page.

I know a  normal person would bake a cake but I am a paper crafter and  we crafters just look at things differently.  I could see the base as the easel and the plate as the frame.  Since it is square it is very sturdy. You can see how it stands alone as a display.....


My best Canadian friend gave me some fabulous family photos taken by the award winning photographers of Dirk Brouwer Photography .  People travel far and wide to have photos taken by them!!  I knew I wanted to do something special with them .

I knew I wanted to keep this clean looking  so I stamped Rubbernecker's Rose Ornament Sku:551 with Versamark on Vellum and embossed it with white embossing powder.  Such a pretty stamp and so versatile!

I layered my photo on white shimmery card stock and added some Maya Road lace and dollar store turquoise ribbon then framed it using Spellbinders Grand Labels One.  I added some Spellbinders Foliage and Some Sizzix 3D Flowers.  Finished it off with some halfback Pearls of different sizes.
I think I will keep on the look out for more square plates with a pedestals. This would make a fabulous birthday of Christmas gift!

Rubbernecker Stamps- Rose Ornament Sku:551

Vintage Birds

My oldest daughter Jessica works at The Birds of Prey Foundation giving tours to school groups, feeding, caring and bird flight demonstrations.  Last Sunday during a school tour she fell and broke her radial head (the round disc in your elbow).  She is a tough cookie, she completed the tour before going to the hospital.  They thought it could be mended with pins but had to replace the radial head.  I knew I would make her a card with birds on it.

Today on SCS the featured stamper is Laura ODonnell I was inspired by this card  she made with birds.  Check her gallery out, it is full of inspiration!

I stamped Impression Obsessions Hang in There F8726  and Love You C8558 with TsukinekoVersafine Vintage Sepia and clear embossed it. We are all avid bird lovers at my house and I just love this image!!! I colored the clothespins with a Memento Desert Sand marker and lightly sponged the edges with Desert Sand and a tad of Memento Rich Cocoa while it was still in a Spellbinders Rectangle die. Added a little red heart that was sponged with Rich Cocoa. Popped up the image on a Spellbinders Rectangle.  The Background is Impression Obsessions Cover-A-Card Music CC029 done the same way as the main image and added some piercing for some faux stitching and connected it with a Rich Cocoa marker.  SCS's free For All Challenge is  F4A122-Piercin' it .  I punched a border with an EK Success Scalloped Scallop border punch and added some gorgeous pleated ribbon, lace, pin.  I popped it up on a card base and decided it still needed something and added a Spellbinders Parisan Accent to crown the image and a rhinestone to the bow.

We have Tree Swallows that nest every year in our backyard. Sadly we had a storm and the Mama bird didn't make it through the storm, so these eggs were done for. I had to remove the eggs so the male could find another mate and nest in the same box~ Papa bird found another mate and is happily nesting again.

Glittered Fuchsia

Happy Thursday Everyone!

Yesterday I made a card with three Memory Box Fuchsia Sprigs. I am way to cheap to throw out the negatives of die cuts!  So I am back to show you another way to use these negatives.  Eek! Another bad photogragh~ The glitter and the seam binding in the card above is actually rose colored.

I cut a Spellbinders Scalloped Rectangle and cut the negative Fuchsia out with a Spellbinders Rectangle. I stamped Rubbernecker's Morning Glory Frame Sku:523 and trimmed the edges off to create a smaller frame. I sponged these pieces with Memento Dessert Sand and the Memento Rich Cocoa. I stamped the Love sentiment from Rubbernecker's Discover Word Set Sku 627-13
with Rich Cocoa as well. I love this set!  The script is beautiful and all the words are fabulous!

I put some  Tombow glue on the Scalloped Rectangle.

I poured some Rose colored glitter over it. Don't forget to have scratch paper under this so you can pour all the excess glitter back into the bottle. (When I was creating this post, I discovered that I forgot to take a photo of this. I quickly did this to take a photo, that is why the edges are not sponged).  This is the true color of the glitter, a photographer, I am not!

On the back side of the rectangle, add some pop dots..

Adhere it over the glittered rectangle.... See, easy peasy and made something pretty out of something that normally would have been thrown out.

Peach Fuchsia

 I just couldn't wait to play with some new toys I received in the mail.
 I stamped the Create sentiment from Rubbernecker's Discover Word Set SKU:627-13 in Memento Tuxedo Black ink and punched it out with a large oval punch. I nestled it in a Memory Box Twirling Vine Frame Die that had been adhered to a base using the extra layer technique found in this post.   The three flowers are Memory Box Fuchsia Sprigs Die. They were sponged with Adirondack Peach Bellini ink and two of the blossoms were popped up for added dimension. The greenery is Cheery Lynn Designs Olive Branches.  I finished it off with some pearls on the sentiment and blossoms  as well as some Dark Peach Seam Binding from Really Reasonable Ribbon.  This card is actually lighter than it looks. One day I might find enough time in a day to take my pictures during daytime hours.

 After die cutting the fuchsia sprigs,  I saved the negative image to sponge  on the inside of the card with Peach Bellini ink.

 Pop back tomorrow and I will share a glittery card that was made  using the negative image of the Fuchia Sprig.

A Brayered Lake Tutorial, an Italian Blog Award and a WINNER!!

Hello Friends!

I have another Pampered Crafters Soroity Retreat Make and Take to share with you today.  Most of the ladies at the retreat had never used a brayer before and we quite surprised at how easy it was.  It was gorgeous at Gull Lake Retreat Center. This is a photo some of the Pampered Crafter's Sorority Sisters, To bad we didn't get them all in the photo!

 So I am going to show you how to create this scene too....

Brayer Adirondack Aqua on the top of your cardstock to the middle and flip it and brayer the bottom until you reach the middle.......

To do the sky.....
Mask the lake across the bottom 1/3 to 1/2 of the cardstock with Post it notes.  Brayer Adirondack Pool, not going quite as far as the Aqua.

Brayer Adirondack Stream just at the top of the card stock, not going as far as the Pool. This is a strong color, so you want to roll it off on your scratch paper a little bit more than the other colors.....

To to the lake area....



Remove the Post it Notes and mask the sky off  now at the horizon line, exposing the lake area.  At the horizon line, brayer Pool not quite to the middle. Flip the cardstock and brayer the bottom, not quite to the middle again with the same color.......

Brayer Adironack Stream at the bottom of the cardstock, not covering the Pool.  If you want a  more intense, deeper color at the horizon  you can  add stream at the horizon (where the Post it Note is) if you like. I did not do that on this card.  At the end of this post I will show another card almost the same where I did this to the top and bottom of the lake.......

 Remove the Post it Notes and sponge Adirondack Denim around the outside edge of the cardstock......

Put Post it Notes on each side of the cardstock in the lake area at different levels to mask and create the islands.  I used a tree from  Kittie Kit-Cause a Scene The Moose is Loose #2 sku:KKCS-S002 . 
I made sure that the bottoms of the trees were being stamps on the Post it Note.  I inked my stamp with Memento Tuxedo Black and stamped two trees with each inking to create the illusion of more trees father away. I did this several times for each island........

With a pouncing motion sponge the bottom of the trees with Tuxedo Black to create the land.  Do this to both islands......

Remove the Post it Notes and stamp some birds from Kittie Kit Cause a scene Beach Master sku-KKCS M002 and a sail boat twice  from Kittie Kit Cause a Scene day at The Beach #4 sku- KKCS S004.  I wanted my sail boats to be silhouettes, so I colored them in with a black journaling pen.  The sentiment is Rubbernecker Best Wishes Set sku-600.  Using a white gel pen add some waves to the edges of the islands by adding dots and small squiggles, some small waves to the lake and some wake to where the boats of been.......

Here is one with a bit of Stream brayered at the horizon line as well.

Fun with Glitter Ritz ~ Glitter Lace Background Tutorial

Hello Friends!

I have a Wedding or Anniversary card to share with you that was a make and take  that I designed for the Pampered Crafter's Sorority Retreat.  The girls had lots of fun making this one.

Let me show you how to create this Lacey Glittery background made with Elizabeth Craft  Micro Fine Glitter Ritz.  Bear with my photos, it's very hard to do this technique and take pixs at the same time with no tripod , when the sun is setting and trying to photograph shiny things.  You can use any colors but I used Silver and Warm Highlights.


Before you start make sure you have copy paper or some time of scratch paper under your project.  Cut some Scor-Tape or Be Creative Tape the same size as the cardstock . Peel the backing off and attach it to the cardstock.

Once attached to the card stock peel the protective covering off.  Be careful not to touch the sticky part that you are exposing.  (Don't throw this part away as you can use it another time for masking, here  is the link of a previous post on what you can use this for.... Glitter Ritz Masking Tutorial).

Take a piece of lace that is a little bit larger than the cardstock and stretch it out over the cardstock.  You want your lace to be the really thin kind.  Thick chunky lace does not turn out very nicely (don't waste your time or supplies).

I used the Silver Glitter Ritz first.  It has more impact as the more predominant color for the background.
Pour it over the lace. Don't be afraid that you are wasting your glitter....most of it goes right back into the bottle.  A very little bit goes a very long way.

Burnish the glitter into the cardstock by rubbing the glitter in a circular motion into the cardstock with your fingers.

Using a soft brush brush the glitter off onto the scratch paper. I am not very gentle here. Don't forget to brush the backside of the cardstock as well, there will be rogue glitter on the back too.

Remove the lace, it just peels off quite easily (don't throw the lace away, you can use it over and over again).  I brush the lace off and  and then brush the brush off.  Go over the cardstock with the clean brush to make sure you have all the glitter off. This keeps you from getting silver glitter in your next color.

All of the excess glitter should be on your scratch paper now.  Just pick up the paper and pour the glitter back into the bottle.

With fresh scratch paper under your project, simply repeat the process by pouring over your light color.   I used Warm Highlights Glitter Ritz.

Burnish it in well with your fingers.....

Brush it of really well front and back....

This creates such a pretty background!

To create my card I stamped a sentiment from  Rubbernecker's Best Wishes Set sku:600 in Versamark and embossed it with silver embossing powder on a Spellbinders Fancy Tag and popped it up with pop dots.  I just discovered the coolest thing.....Viva Pearl Pen...love it you can make your pearls any size you want and they round out all on their own.  I added a couple of Spellbinders Scalloped Hearts in Silver Mirror Paper and some White Satin Ribbon.  I matted it on a white layer and the a layer of Silver Mirror Paper. I popped it all up on a white card base.  Very little supplies and big impact!
